Srikkanth backs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for India call-up, draws comparison with Sachin
Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has made a strong case for young batting talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to be fast-tracked into the national setup, urging chief selector Ajit Agarkar to act without delay.
Speaking about the teenager’s rapid rise, Srikkanth described him as a “demi-god in the making” and said his natural flair and confidence reminded him of a young Sachin Tendulkar. He emphasized that rare talents should be nurtured early at the highest level rather than being held back by conventional pathways.
Srikkanth argued that exposure to international cricket at a young age could accelerate Sooryavanshi’s development, much like it did for Tendulkar, who debuted as a teenager and went on to become one of the game’s all-time greats.
While acknowledging that selection decisions require careful consideration, he maintained that India should not hesitate when a player shows exceptional promise and temperament.
Sooryavanshi has recently attracted attention with his performances and composure, leading to growing calls from former players and experts for his inclusion in the senior squad.
