Motorcycles to micro-observers, to MLA watch: ECI orders make this Bengal election unlike any

The upcoming election in West Bengal is set to be one of the most closely monitored in recent times, with the Election Commission of India introducing a range of measures aimed at ensuring transparency and security.

Among the key steps is the deployment of micro-observers at sensitive polling booths to keep a close watch on voting procedures. These officials will work alongside regular polling staff to ensure that rules are followed strictly and any irregularities are reported in real time.

In addition, mobile patrol units, including motorcycle teams, have been assigned to cover remote and high-risk areas. Their role is to respond quickly to any disturbances and maintain order during the polling process.

The Commission has also strengthened surveillance through increased monitoring of campaign activities and stricter enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. Special attention is being given to constituencies identified as sensitive, where additional security personnel will be deployed.

Officials say these measures are designed to boost voter confidence and ensure a free and fair election. With enhanced oversight and rapid-response teams in place, the electoral process is expected to be more transparent and tightly controlled than ever before.
